The South Island is extremely photogenic and arguably one of the best locations for a landscape photography tour.
Our expertly designed itinerary is created to highlight the very best of what the South Island has to offer giving you unique opportunities for amazing photos, while being accompanied by guides and photography mentors who have travelled this region extensively.
New Zealand's South Island is renowned for its mountains, lakes and glaciers. Our team has a vast knowledge of the local area, the people, and an understanding of the Maori culture.
As part of the itinerary, we take you away from the tourist areas, to experience some genuine jewels of New Zealand. This unique experience gives an opportunity to engage with this amazing landscape in a way that very few visitors get to.

We're still finalising the dates and a final itinerary for this tour. As you can imagine, putting together a tour in a popular destination like NZ's South Island, has it's challenges! The team at Explore Photography are working hard behind the scenes to finalise the finer details.

The final itinerary along with dates and a final cost will be made available soon. As with all our tours, we receive a lot of interest long before future dates are announced. We anticipate this New Zealand tour will sell out fast. You can express your interest by contacting us to be shortlisted for priority booking when the tour is announced.
Additional Tour Notes & Information
- This tour will be accompanied by your photography tutor and mentor Maurice Mangiagli, who has photographed both the North and South Islands of New Zealand on numerous visits, has a vast knowledge of the country, and will get you to the best locations in the best light. You'll also be accompanied by our New Zealand based team who will give a wonderful insight from a local/s perspective.
- A moderate level of fitness is required. This tour is appropriate for travellers in good health with good mobility. You should be able to comfortably participate in physical activity, including walking at an easy pace, sometimes on uneven terrain and climbing stairs and obstacles in cold weather.
- On all days we travel in comfort in either mini vans or a small bus allowing ample room for all participants.
- We start early on most days. This helps us beat the crowds at a couple of the more popular locations, as well as getting the best light for photography.
- This amazing photography tour is aimed at photographers of all levels. Non photographers are welcome to book also. A digital SLR camera is recommended. Best lenses to bring include a longer zoom and a wide angled lens. A tripod is essential for our sunrise and sunset sessions.
- Hotel transfers are included. You will be greeted by one of our team at the airport and escorted to the hotel (return transfers also included) 7 nights accommodation are included in the tour price. Additional night/s accomodation pre & post tour can be arranged at time of booking (additional fees apply)
- The tour price includes accomodation single supplement. All participants will be accomodated in their own private hotel room. If you are travelling as a couple and wish to share a room, let us know at the time of booking and a discounted room rate will be deducted from the tour price.
- All entry fees to National Parks and any other associated location entry fees on daily excursions are included in the tour price.
- Daily breakfast is included in the tour price. When we're on the road, cold water will be provided as well as a light lunch.
- All ground transport is included, either by means of an air conditioned mini bus or car.
- Airfares to and from Christchurch are NOT included in the tour price. Participants must make their own way to Christchurch and arrive on or before the induction date listed in the itinerary above.
- Some foreign visitors to New Zealand may require a visitor visa. Any costs associated with visa requirements are NOT included in the tour price.
- Evening dinner meals are NOT included in the tour price - with the exception of the group farewell dinner on the final night. The surrounding area of the tour hotel has restaurants and cafe's for participants to explore.
- Personal travel insurance is NOT included in the tour price. It is highly recommended you take out a personal travel policy before you travel.
